My name is Matt, and I live inside of my iPhone.

It's the physical body for my digital soul.

When I have a good day, I let everyone know; and when that get’s liked I become more digital so.

If I haven’t checked in, was I really ever there? Not according to my page on Foursquare.

Did I get to the front row of the Daft Punk main act? Can’t prove that without a well-timed (and well-captioned) (and well, soon worthless) Snapchat.

Am I an amateur videographer with my skills on the line? Not if I don’t make a popular Vine.

Should I hone my skills and write down something of substance? Nah I’d be the only one. After all, these days were predicted by F-four-fifty-one.

Sure, we write but each Twitter verse is burned soon after writing, relevance to ashes in moments, but petrified for future chance of disgrace.

Plus I’m already a polymath, a renaissance man, have you seen my diverse photo loves on Instagram?

I’m an artist, a poet, a director of sorts; but nothing amounts to what my heart wants. I’m a sliced pecan, a taste of greatness, scattered indefinitely across who knows what universe.

After all, I don't like this at all, but I don't like to dislike; by now I’m conditioned not to dislike at all, that’s an exclusive sort of thinking.

How did we get here anyways? One step after the other, like anything else I suppose. Is this life moving forward, are we stepping into a future we've dreamt? Thoughtful tech potential excites more than the current state, yet should not our highest aim be to exalt the present moment we’ve created?

How do we change, how do we revert? We don’t just yet. We’ll be lucky if we can hold onto any present moment that leaves us happy and contemplative. Even then we’re left behind as we praise the movers and shakers and lifestyle makers changing for the sake of change and giving happiness new names.

We’ll subscribe and share and become voyeurs to the few who decide to act; less we shatter our smartphones and climb out of the pixels to retake our human forms again.

To choose life as a gift and not pretend. The future is ours, no matter our scars; and it’s coming as fast as we want it to.

Indeed — the future is coming, but who ever asked how soon we wanted it to be.?
